Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in September 2022.  We were proud that Woodlands Infant School was judged to be a good school, with outstanding personal development.

The report recognised Woodlands as “a very happy place” where pupils, including children in the early years, “thrive in this harmonious community”. Inspectors noted that leaders place the wellbeing of pupils, staff and parents at the heart of their work and that pupils feel safe, behave well and are extremely well mannered.

We were particularly pleased that the report highlighted many strengths across the school, including:

• reading being given the highest priority and recognised as a strength of the school
• warm and caring relationships between adults and pupils
• high expectations for all pupils
• pupils, including those with SEND, having access to ambitious learning experiences
• well-organised learning areas and inviting outdoor learning in Early Years
• pupils’ strong behaviour in lessons and around school
• the wide range of opportunities for personal development, including pupil leadership roles, clubs, charity work and environmental responsibility
• parents and carers rating the school very highly and taking pride in being part of the school community

The report also recognised that children settle quickly into school from Nursery, that kindness is celebrated and that pupils are proud of the roles they take on within school, such as wellbeing champions, school councillors and class monitors.

Since the inspection, we have continued to build on these strengths while further developing our curriculum, provision and school improvement work so that every child is supported to be the best me I can be.
