Foundation Stage Outcomes

At the end of Reception, children are assessed against the Early Learning Goals. These outcomes help us to understand children’s development at the end of the Foundation Stage and support a smooth transition into Year 1.

Phonics Outcomes

Phonics is a key part of early reading. At the end of Year 1, children complete the national Phonics Screening Check, which shows how well they are using their phonics knowledge to read words.

Key Stage 1 Outcomes

End of Key Stage 1 assessments became non-statutory from the 2023/24 academic year. Schools may still choose to carry out assessments in Year 2, but national comparison data is no longer published.
